The single swing out add-on weighs 34lbs and the dual swing out add-on with gas can holder weighs 77lbs. ![]() The heim joints in conjunction with the toggle latch provide tons of adjustability, allowing for easy assembly and guaranteed alignment of the carrier latch. These carriers feature heavy duty chromoly heim joint hinges, 2000lb toggle latches, T-handle spring pins, and a replaceable UHMW catch pad that provides secure, rattle free operation. The dual swing out includes the hilift mount as well as a lockable jerry can holder designed to fit two 20L NATO style jerry cans. The swing out tire carrier comes in either a single or dual sided configuration and is built to accept a tire up to 37″ in diameter! Both carriers include mounting brackets for a hilift jack and other recovery items. This reduces added stress on your vehicle, maintains precious payload capacity, and allows you to keep your factory suspension if desired. Considering that this bumper replaces your factory bumper, bedside corners, hitch receiver and associated components, the resulting weight increase to your Toyota Tacoma is surprisingly minimal. What could make this bumper even better? The low profile design has resulted in very reasonable weights of 94lbs for the steel bumper and 46lbs for the aluminum version. These factors all combine to form recovery points that minimize stress on your Toyota Tacoma’s frame and provide reliable recoveries of heavily loaded vehicles in the worst of offroad situations. The recovery points then get welded to the in and outside of the bumper shell. These recovery points are formed out of laser cut steel plates that pass through the bumper shell and tie directly into the bumper’s main mounting points on the Tacoma frame. We finished this bumper off with optional single and dual swing out carriers, a high clearance hitch receiver, LED pod lights (custom cut outs available by request), and heavy duty 9/16″ recovery points that are placed directly in line with the Toyota Tacoma frame to eliminate any leveraging effects. Simply follow the provided instructions’ simple cutting guide and pictures. With this bumper, we’ve decided to wrap the side wings around the side of the bed instead of below it, meaning that even the most hack-job cut will be completely hidden! This takes the stress out of performing an irreversible cut job and ensures you end up with a beautiful end product. This means that the bedside cut line will be visible and that a mis-measured cut can result in an unsightly gap between the bumper and bed. With many high clearance wrap around bumpers, the factory bedsides must be cut all the way up to the height of the top of the replacement bumper. We’ve also taken a unique approach to the way that these wrap-around side wings interface with the truck. If you are paying to have the bumper assembled by a welding shop, this significantly lowers the cost. This greatly reduces the amount of welding and grinding required by you and makes for a cleaner finished product. The main section of this bumper is CNC-bent out of a single piece of 3/16″ P&O Steel. We have thought ahead and specifically designed these bumper side wings to clear 37″ tires. ![]() We know that many Toyota Tacoma owners want to run oversized tires, which often create interference and rubbing issues with the stock bumper. The high clearance side wings are linked directly to the frame by stout 2×2″ square support tubes – the same tubing that we use for our rock slider support legs! This ensures that you can drag the side wings over the nastiest of obstacles without any worries of body damage. ![]() Unlike many aftermarket bumpers that are more or less empty shells with minimal reinforcement, this bumper contains extensive internal ribbing and mounts directly to factory holes in bottom and sides of the Tacoma’s frame for unmatched strength and stiffness. Simply put, this bumper allows you to forget about departure angle and substantially improves the offroad capability of your Tacoma! These features make a very noticeable difference during deep ditch crossing and steep obstacle climbs where other aftermarket bumpers with bulky rear profiles and protruding hitch receivers will hang up and impede progress on the trail. The bumper sits as high and tight to the rear of the 1st generation Toyota Tacoma (1995.5-2004) as possible, while the recessed hitch receiver and angled lower faces will smoothly slide over obstacles and ensure you do not get hung up on the trail. The profile of this bumper has been designed with maximum ground clearance and departure angles put first.
